Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond

The Georgian Theatre Royal, Britain's oldest working theatre in its original form, is both a thriving community playhouse and a living theatre museum. The theatre seats around 150 people and has a uniquely charming and intimate atmosphere. Built by actor-manager Samuel Butler in 1788, the Georgian Theatre Royal was managed by Butler along with his circuit of northern theatres.

Parking: the theatre does not have its own car park. However, there is free disc parking in the centre of town for up to two hours, disability parking 100 meters from the front door of the theatre, and three nearby council car parks with disabled parking spaces. Parking is usually free of charge in the council carparks after 18:00, but please check this when you arrive.

Accessibility: the venue is wheelchair accessible through the lower (left-hand) door to the theatre, and then via a lift to the top floor. There are two wheelchair spaces available in the auditorium, and both of the nearby carparks have spaces for Blue Badge holders. There is an accessible toilet.
