Wed 8 June, 16:00-17:00 at The Influence Church in Richmond

Harpist Noreen O'Donoghue, who was originally intending to play in The Island Lullaby concert on Wednesday 8 June, has sadly been incapacitated by acute tendonitis, and so won't be able to come to the Festival. Tríona Marshall, who plays with both The Chieftains and the Ireland's National Symphony Orchestra, has very kindly agreed to replace Noreen.

The Island Lullaby (Suantraí na hInise) is a suite composed by Colm Ó Foghlú in 2013 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the evacuation of the Blasket Islands off Co. Kerry, Ireland. It is a haunting combination of classical form and traditional instruments. Archive footage compiled by the composer will be screened during the concert.

This first UK performance features internationally renowned musician Niamh Ní Charra on solo concertina alongside Tríona Marshall and an all-star string section which includes violinist Adam Summerhayes and double bassist Malcolm Creese. The concert will be conducted by Chloé van Soeterstede who is an outstanding Masters student at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
