Swaledale Festival walks usually guided by an expert on a particular theme, are always very popular and sell out very quickly as numbers need to be strictly limited so that all those on the the walk have a chance of hearing what the guide tells them in what may be challenging outdoor conditions.
This always means that a lot of people who thought they were booking early, are still disappointed. This year the Festival has approached the two organisations who provide expert guides and asked if it would be possible to provide extra guides so that the number of walkers could be increased. This has already been done for two of the geology walks and, if you are quick, you may still be able to join the Chert Mining and Geology on Fremington Edge walk on 4 June. Now the Festival has been able to confirm extra guides and therefore extra walking places, on the guided walk Flora around Leyburn on 26 May and Flora of Lower Swaledale on 5 June.
Those who contacted the Festival office and asked to join a waiting list have been contacted by the Box Office with the offer of a place but there are still some vacant spaces. If you would like to join either of these walks, go to the What's On pages for Wensleydale Flora or Swaledale Flora and book online.
