Ensemble Musica Poetica delighted audiences a few years ago and are performing at this year's Festival at 14:00 and 16:00 on Thursday 30 May. They will be playing some early German music which predates that of the great J.S. Bach, as well as some of the Master’s own compositions.
The group includes the violone player Ingo Schlüchtermann, who Festival regulars might remember as the conductor of the Bammental Grammar School Symphony Orchestra at the 2017 Festival; Ingo brought a coach full of schoolchildren - some as young as twelve - all the way from South Germany to Askrigg to play for us. It was a delightful occasion which reminded us of the importance of music education in schools as well as European cultural collaboration. Ingo and his (grown-up) colleagues will receive a very warm welcome in the lovely church in Arkengarthdale.
