Swaledale FestivALE

Swaledale Festival has teamed up with the Yorkshire Dales Brewery to create the taste of a Dales summer. A brand new chilled-out beer celebrates all that is wonderful about our area - the vibrant local culture and the fabulous world events brought to you by Swaledale Festival.

Brewed from American mosaic and centennial hops, Swaledale Festivale is light and fruity in character, with refreshing hoppy notes, reflecting the fresh and natural character of the Yorkshire Dales. Described as ‘thirst-quenching and extremely drinkable’, this pale ale, at 3.8% ABV, is set to become a firm favourite amongst locals and festival goers alike. Malcolm Creese, Festival Director commented: “Yorkshire Dales Brewery produces a range of exceptional beers and it’s a real thrill to have one to celebrate our Festival!”

Swaledale Festivale has been brewed by Anne and Rob at the Askrigg based Yorkshire Dales Brewery, especially for the Swaledale Festival. Rob says, “It’s an 8 hour process to brew 1440 pints or 20 casks of beer”. Swaledale Festivale is a unique brew which will be available for a couple of weeks leading up to Swaledale Festival, and then for the Festival fortnight itself. The Bridge Inn at Grinton in Swaledale, as well as many other local pubs, will sell the beer on draft, as will the Yorkshire Dales Brewery itself which has a brewery tap on site for pre-booked events.
Swaledale Festival is keen to work with local businesses and charities to promote the beauty and the unique craftsmanship of our stunning Yorkshire Dales. It seemed like the perfect ‘mash up’ (beer pun intended!) when Rob, Anne, Festival Director Malcolm, and Andrew from The Bridge Inn put their heads together to design Swaledale Festivale. Anne was keen to point out, “We’re proud to support local charities and community events, and it’s wonderful to celebrate our relationship with the Swaledale Festival in this way”.

Swaledale Festival is a registered charity which has produced a fortnight of exceptional music and art every year since the 1970s.

There are over 60 events in this year’s Festival, which takes place from 25th May to 8th June across Swaledale, Wensleydale and Arkengarthdale. World-class musicians will also visit 23 schools and 5 care homes in the area, inspiring and celebrating music amongst people aged 5 to 105!
