Booking Information 2018

  • Advanced booking is advised for all events
  • Friends Priority Period starts at 09:00 on Monday 5 March and finishes Sunday 25 March
  • Public online ticket sales start at 09:00 on Monday 26 March
  • Our public box office for telephone and walk-in bookings starts on Monday 16 April and is open Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays) from 10:00 to 13:00, located at:

  • During the Festival the box office is open from 10:00 till 16:00
  • If you send your booking form in by post, we will begin processing them in order of the date they are received from Monday 26 March.  However, to have the best chance of obtaining tickets for popular events, we encourage you to buy online as some events can sell out very quickly as soon as online booking opens!
  • Our box office can be busy.  If someone is on the phone you will be diverted to our voicemail; please leave us a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can
  • Tickets must be paid for at the time of order
  • Please make cheques payable to ‘Swaledale Festival’
  • The Festival reserves the right to alter artists and programmes in the event of unforeseen circumstances

General Information 2018

  • Seats are not numbered
  • Due to the varied nature of our venues – many of which have pews – seat reservations are not possible unfortunately.  Exceptions are made for those with accessibility needs, please see below
  • In order to be fair to all, reservation of seats for absent audience members is not permitted
  • Doors open 30 minutes before the start of each event
  • Unsold tickets may be available at the door; please call the Box Office to check
  • Due to the nature of church architecture, some seats may have a restricted view and you may want to bring a cushion for extra comfort
  • Running time: afternoon events are generally around 60 minutes long with no interval and evening events are generally between 120 and 150 minutes long with a 20 minute interval
  • Simple refreshments will be served at many of our venues; details will be on the relevant event page where possible

Refunds 2018

  • Refunds will only be given if an event is cancelled or sold out with a waiting list - meaning that we can re-sell the ticket
  • For events that are sold out with a waiting list, the Festival will deduct £2 per ticket for refunds to help cover our administration costs

We appreciate that parking can be tricky at our venues. In some locations we are able to arrange parking e.g. Grinton where you can follow the signs and park in the field near the bridge.  Generally the earlier you arrive, the easier it is to park, and we’d appreciate it if you could park with consideration for local residents.  More detailed information is available about where to park at our venues on the venues page.  Drivers of disabled visitors – please call our Box Office for drop-off advice: 01748 880019.


Unauthorised photography and recording is not permitted at Swaledale Festival events.

Guided Walks

Our walks are in high demand and early booking is advisable.  In the event that a walk is sold out, you can add your name to the waiting list by calling the Box Office.  You’ll need sturdy boots, waterproofs and a hat.  For longer walks please bring lunch and water.  Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead unless otherwise indicated.  Coins for ticket machines are needed if starting from a car park.  Published durations are approximate.  Please note, places on the walks are in high demand, and where possible we encourage you not to drop out at the last minute if it can be avoided.
