Gayle Mill, near Hawes

Gayle Mill in Hawes is a grade 2 listed saw mill dating back to the 18th century. The mill has now been restored and is open to the public and is a key visitor attraction in the Yorkshire Dales.

Gayle Mill was originally built as a water-powered cotton mill and later converted to a saw mill in around 1879. The old water wheel was replaced with a water turbine to drive new Victorian woodworking machines. The mill closed in 1988.
